Privacy Notice

1. Controller
The controller for data processing on this website is:
Jens Hartmann

2. Principle of data minimisation
This website is built as a static site. It sets no cookies, stores no personal data in the user interface and loads no third-party fonts at runtime; the typefaces are served from this domain.
Besides the host (section 3) there are three further recipients: audience measurement with Plausible (section 4), error telemetry to Sentry (section 5) and the delivery of the images of the works by Sanity (section 6). Plausible and Sentry are routed through this domain — your browser only talks to this website, the forwarding happens server-side. The images of the works, by contrast, are loaded by your browser directly from Sanity's image server; that is the only direct connection to a third party. None of this processing requires a consent banner.
3. Hosting and server log files
This website is hosted by Vercel Inc., 340 S Lemon Ave #4133, Walnut, CA 91789, USA. When the site is accessed, the host processes technically necessary access data in server log files, in particular: the shortened IP address, date and time, the page requested, the amount of data transferred, browser type and operating system. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. A data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR) is in place; transfers to the USA are safeguarded by appropriate measures (in particular EU standard contractual clauses).
4. Audience measurement with Plausible Analytics
This site uses Plausible Analytics, an EU-hosted service provided by Plausible Insights OÜ, Västriku tn 2, 50403 Tartu, Estonia, for aggregated, anonymous usage statistics (page requested, referrer, country-level location, anonymised browser and device type). Plausible sets no cookies, stores no IP addresses, and creates no cross-device identifiers. Individuals are not re-identified. The measurement script and the measurement calls run via this domain and are forwarded from there; the browser does not connect to the provider directly. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. No transfer to third countries takes place. For details, see plausible.io/data-policy.
5. Error telemetry (Sentry)
So that faults surface and can be fixed, this site reports technical errors automatically to Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.). Processing takes place in the service's EU region; the data are processed in Germany. Sentry processes them on our behalf.
Only technical details are transmitted: the type and message of the error, a stack trace truncated to 2,000 characters, the address of the page requested, the platform, and technical accompanying data (timestamp, severity, the deployment's version identifier and a random event identifier). No cookies, no user identifiers, no profile.
The report is sent via this domain and forwarded from there; the browser does not connect to the provider directly. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in error-free and secure operation (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).
6. Image delivery (Sanity)
The images of the works on this website are held in Sanity's media store and delivered from there (cdn.sanity.io). Unlike the other services, your browser connects directly to the provider; its servers therefore necessarily receive your IP address, the address of the image requested and the usual connection data of the request.
No cookies are set and no identifier is assigned.
The legal basis is the legitimate interest in delivering the works at the quality this requires (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).
7. Contact
If you contact us by email, we process the data you provide (name, email address, content of the message) in order to answer your enquiry. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR where the enquiry concerns a contract, otherwise Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.
8. Your rights
Within the limits of the law you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
9. Encryption
This site uses SSL/TLS encryption for security reasons.
10. Status
This privacy notice is dated 7 August 2026 and is updated whenever the site's data processing changes.
